A straight flute reamer is used for the final sizing and finishing of a pre-machined hole. OMIST manufactures these tools from solid carbide for machine and CNC reaming applications.

The tools feature a straight flute and straight shank design in common 4-flute and 6-flute configurations. Standard metric sizes cover a broad reference range, and H7 precision is available. Black, bronze, and custom coating options are also available according to application requirements.

Customers can select a common reference size or submit a non-standard requirement for evaluation. For custom tools, a drawing or dimensioned sketch is preferred because dimensions and configurations may vary between applications. For the broader carbide reamer product range, see our Solid Carbide Reamer collection. If your application requires a spiral flute configuration, you can also review our Spiral Flute Reamer options.

Applications and Selection

Mold Steel and Hardened Steel

OMIST supplies solid carbide straight flute reamers for mold steel and hardened steel. For applicable steel workpieces, we offer configurations for workpiece hardness of HRC55–65. In addition, we can evaluate custom requirements according to the actual material and machining conditions.

Customers can choose black, bronze, or custom coating options. Therefore, when requesting a reamer for hardened material, please provide the workpiece material, hardness, and required tool specification.

Aluminum, Copper and Plastics

OMIST also supplies solid carbide straight flute reamers for aluminum, copper, and plastics. Because tool requirements can vary with the workpiece and hole specification, please provide this information when requesting a standard or custom tool.

Machine and CNC Reaming

These straight flute reamers support machine use on CNC machines, machining centers, and precision machining or engraving equipment. They perform the final sizing and finishing of pre-machined holes according to the required reaming specification.

If you are comparing straight and spiral flute configurations, see our straight flute vs spiral flute reamer guide for selection considerations such as hole type, chip direction, and interrupted features.
